SAVVY SOJOURNS : PRELUDE TO THE PROVINCE OF CEBU

The iconic statue of Lapu-Lapu at the Mactan Shrine in Mactan Island, Cebu

Readers of this young blog know that I have a soft spot for the province of Cebu. While I have featured some notable landmarks around Cebu City in previous posts, the entire province of Cebu is another thing.

This month, I shall feature some favorite spots around the province of Cebu that  I have been to. Not to mention some deliriously delicious dining destinations and leisure activities you and I will surely enjoy over and over.

Is Cebu one of your favorite destinations too? Feel free to share your thoughts.

PRELUDE TO THE PHILIPPINES' MOST LIVEABLE CITY

BY PIE RIVERA

It seems time flies at the speed of lightning. It has been eleven (11) months since I first published an article here at Savvy Sojourns, but it has been a number of years since I have tinkered on putting up my own travel blog. Difficult as it may seem back then, though I got to travel in the last decade, I did not have much that documented my travels. So in recent years, being bitten by the travel bug, I am always armed with a handy digital camera wherever I go - it was not just a must, it has been a necessity.

This month of August, Savvy Sojourns will be doing a feature on the Philippines' southern most part - Mindanao.

Tagaytay City is my favorite vacation spot in Luzon, Cebu City is my second home in the Visayas region. And for Mindanao - well, this month's feature would probably be the closest to my heart. An old tune which goes "I left my heart in San Francisco" has the same effect on me about my favorite city in Mindanao - and I am referring to Davao City.

Davao City is tagged as Asia's most liveable city. It is one of the most peaceful cities I have been to and one of the cleanest aside from Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Olongapo. Davao City happens to have some of my favorite fruits such as pomelo (suha) and mangosteen. I also love the fact that Samal Island is just about five to ten minutes boat-ride away, with numerous affordable beach resorts to boot. Two of the best reasons that make me come back are the numerous deliriously delicious dining destinations and the friendliest people I have ever met.

Without further ado, Savvy Sojourns' August offering brings you to another marvelous Philippine destination - Davao City.

Is Davao City one of your favorite destinations too? Feel free to share your thoughts.
